Today's "Sunday Supper" has music to soothe a savage breast in this fraught moment. We embrace the irresistible finger-picking, foot stomping guitar playing of Chris Smither, who turns 80 tomorrow, with some of his bluesy originals and covers by Jorma Kaukonen and Bonnie Raitt. And we celebrate the birthday of another November octogenarian, Jesse Colin Young, who has his own folk blues roots.

We pay tribute to the all-encompassing giant of jazz and pop, Quincy Jones, following his passing, and preview Tuesday's "On Your Radar" at the Bitter End with The Magnolia Janes, Louie Lou Louis, and Crow and Gazelle. Finally, I'll offer songs by The Rough & Tumble, Lizz Wright, Carrie Elkin, and Peter, Paul & Mary for perspective on the week's events.

Get together from 4:00-6:00 p.m. EST at 90.7 FM and streaming online, plus on-demand in the Archives, on the WFUV app, and the resilient smart speaker of your choice.
