Rose Paradise: NY Slice Session 2026

Brooklyn-based Rose Paradise — yes, that's her real name — first caught my attention in 2024 when I played her sweet indie folk tune, “Tangerine,” from her debut album, Over The Hill.
Paradise blends the warm, nostalgic folk rock sounds of Laurel Canyon with the intimate storytelling tradition of Greenwich Village—and adds a touch of Nashville country flavor. Her approach is timeless and deeply personal.
Originally from the small beach town of Stinson Beach, California, Paradise is preparing to release her Woodacre EP, inspired by albums like Lucinda Williams' World Without Tears, Gillian Welch's Soul Journey and Karen Dalton's In My Own Time.
For this "NY Slice" session, Paradise performed the older “Tangerine” as well as the new “Sweet Devotion” from Woodacre. She was joined by a talented ensemble: Aila Wildman on violin and vocals, Kaveh Hodjat on drums, Miles Hoegl on bass, and Will Kissinger on piano, all helping bring her rich, rootsy sound to life.
And she took the "NY Slice" sessions pop quiz too — and Rose revealed that she released her first album at the age of 10.
