Rockaways Bridge Tolls Resume Saturday
Toll Collection Resumes Almost a Month After Superstorm Sandy
Toll collections will resume at two bridges in the storm-damaged Rockaways section of Queens.
The MTA says tolls will be collected starting 12:01 a.m. Saturday at the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge and the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Governor Andrew Cuomo suspended the tolls on November 4. The loss of train service after Superstorm Sandy made it hard for residents to get back and forth.
Shuttle buses are now operating between Howard Beach and Mott Ave.-Far Rockaway. Shuttle train service is running on the peninsula.
The Marine Parkway bridge links the peninsula with Brooklyn.
The Cross Bay connects the peninsula with the rest of Queens.
The car tolls are $3.25 cash or $1.80 with E-ZPass.
