Ouroboros is a Greek word meaning "tail devourer," and it is one of the oldest mystical symbols in the world. It's often seen as a serpent eating its own tail. There are several meanings of the word, including the cyclic nature of the universe, creation out of destruction, and  life out of death. So it makes sense that Ray LaMontagne titled his new song-cycle Ouroboros.

Produced by kindred spirit Jim James of My Morning Jacket, LaMontagne's new album find him  at the most creatively open place he’s ever been. He's tuned in to nature, the cycle of life, and the awareness that our time here is brief.

In our conversation for this FUV Live session, LaMontagne details his creative process, how the concept of Ouroboros came to him, and the special tour he is doing with the members of My Morning Jacket.
