Time flies — and FUV has known Pete Yorn for a long, long time. The singer, songwriter, and (now) actor made his first visit to the station nearly 20 years ago, in 2006, and over the course of a dozen albums (two with Scarlett Johansson), Yorn deftly balances his rock 'n' roots drive with thoughtful, full-hearted lyrics. He's got a new album due out later this year, his first since 2022's Hawaii, which was a collaboration with Day Wave.

So far, Yorn has released two singles from that soon-to-come next album — "Real Good Love" and "Someday, Someday" — both of which he performed at a recent FUV Marquee Member concert at The Bitter End. Joined by keyboardist Jonny Polonsky, Yorn dipped into all eras of career-defining tracks, including "Life on a Chain" from his remarkable debut album, 2001's Musicforthemorningafter. He even slipped in a jaunty cover of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle."

In between songs, he was a warm, charming, and witty storyteller. Far from an explosive character himself, he spoke about his surprising acting debut as a reprehensible hitman in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-nominated movie, 2023's "Killers of the Flower Moon," joining other musicians-turned-thespians Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Jack White, and Randy Houser.
