Pat Van Dyke with Ansley Stewart: NY Slice Session 2025

New Jersey multi-instrumentalist Pat Van Dyke produces songs for himself and for others as a session player, producer and composer. His own music, a deep catalog of instrumental solo work, soulfully floats around the perimeters of jazz and hip hop, including 2018's Hello, Summer, a favorite of mine.
Van Dyke really soars with his collaborations too, and one artist who catches his vibe really well is Ansley Stewart, a Georgia-based Americana and soul songwriter. Like Van Dyke, Stewart makes her own music and is a sought-after session player. This versatile vocalist can sing anything — in any style — and not only is her confidence in performance an irresistible asset, but she's a clever and insightful lyricist.
During this "NY Slice" session, the pair's fruitful collaboration comes through on a couple of new songs — "Inside Out" and "Bad Habits," both released in March. They were joined by a full band: pianist Zac Colwell, bassist Nick Morrison, and violinist Bobby Hecht.
