Two of our "NY Slice" alums, Bird Streets and Golden Alphabet, will launch the inaugural "NY Slice Nights" at City Vineyard, the first of a two-show concert series at the venue on February 3 at 7:30 p.m. and hosted by FUV's Alisa Ali. The second concert happens on March 3, with artists to be announced.

Last year, Golden Alphabet's Tommy Cormier visited FUV's Studio A to play a two-song "NY Slice Sessions" set and he fearlessly took our "NY Slice" pop quiz.

WFUV is proud to partner with City Vineyard for this celebration of some of our "NY Slice" all-stars with the radio station's mission of music discovery always at the forefront. And we're excited to see you there!

Tickets are on sale now for just $22 in advance, $25 day of show.

Bird Streets:
A native of upstate New York, Brooklyn-based artist John Brodeur adopted the moniker Bird Streets with the release of a self-titled 2018 album. Produced by Jason Falkner, Bird Streets was a refreshing blast of classic-yet-modern melodic rock that received accolades from PopMatters (“a rock solid power-pop gem”) and NPR Music, which named Bird Streets a "Slingshot Artist" alongside then-emerging talents like Phoebe Bridgers and The Beths.

For Lagoon, his second album, Brodeur expanded on the project’s collaborative foundation, enlisting production by Patrick Sansone (Wilco) and Michael Lockwood (Fiona Apple), plus guest appearances from Ed Harcourt, Aimee Mann, and Big Star's Jody Stephens.

Simultaneously epic and intimate, Lagoon has been called "sublime" (Coachella Valley Weekly), "luxurious and literate" (Rock & Roll Truth), and "an emotional tour de force" (Glide). A new album is expected in 2025.

Brodeur began his recording career with 2000’s Tiger Pop, and prior to Bird Streets he released two more solo albums, in addition to EPs with The Suggestions and Maggie Mayday. He has performed or toured with Juliana Hatfield, They Might Be Giants, TV On The Radio, and Fountains of Wayne, and others.

Golden Alphabet:
Golden Alphabet is mostly, but not exclusively, formed around the songwriting of multi-instrumentalist and recording producer Tommy Cormier. Over the years, Cormier's project become a vehicle for solo efforts and collaborations alike, including the work of bassist and vocalist Kendra Kovarik and multi-instrumentalist Timmy Minker who've also molded Golden Alphabet's sonic shape since its 2004 start in  in Tucson, Arizona.

Cormier and cohorts are influenced by various aesthetics of indie-psych, folk, post-punk, Americana, country, world music and Baroque pop.
