Recently, I was invited to go through the New York entries for NPR Music's 2020 Tiny Desk Contest with FUV's Rita Houston and Eric Gottlieb. We were to choose a favorite — and let me tell you, this was no easy task.

As you can imagine, there is a lot of talent in this town. But of course, this is not just a New York contest, it's nationwide, and our NPR Music colleagues received something like 6,000 entries.

On Tuesday, August 4, NPR announced the winner of the contest, and guess what? It just happens to be my fave, too! I could not be more thrilled for New York City's own Linda Diaz. She won NPR Music's 2020 Tiny Desk contest for her song "Green Tea Ice Cream."

I got a chance to talk with her about her big win and you can listen to that conversation in the archive above, and below, watch Linda perform her winning song.
