Nicole Atkins at Electric Lady Studios

It seems like only yesterday that we were getting knocked out by Nicole Atkins’ debut: a gorgeous, dramatic, swoon-worthy collection of songs called Neptune City. In fact, that release was 10 years ago.

Since then, Atkins has journeyed into soul, psychedelia, and even disco, on her next two albums. She has been a featured vocalist on David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's Here Lies Love, contributed to a Bruce Springsteen tribute compilation, had a song on the TV show "Roadies," and worked with the Old 97’s on their last album. She's even recently founded a major mutual admiration society with Ryan Adams.

As Neptune City marks its decade anniversary, Atkins has brought her music to another level on her fourth effort, Goodnight, Rhonda Lee. In this special session at Electric Lady Studios, she shows off new material, her sense of humor, and talks to us about the evolution of her sound.
