Monica Bang: NY Slice Session 2026

Punk outfit Monica Bang brought their full-throttle energy into Studio A for a "NY Slice" session, proving why their live show has quickly built a reputation for being as dynamic as it is explosive.
The band first landed on my radar after winning the 2024 Battle of the Bands at Dave’s Lesbian Bar, and they’ve been gaining momentum ever since. Comprised of Kyra Tantao on vocals, Mareko James on guitar, Jenno Snyder on bass, and O.B. Macdougall on drums, the group tore through an explosive two-song set, from their EP We’re Not Safe: "Sport" and "Till It's Clean."
The title of We're Not Safe, they explain, reflects how they’re feeling right now as a band made up entirely of queer and marginalized folks navigating the current moment.
Check out the band in action — plus they took the "NY Slice" pop quiz.
