The tenth album from Canadian quartet Metric, Romanticize the Dive, is a muscular mashup of their synth-rock roots with a frank dose of lyrical rumination (and a bit of rage). Singer, keyboardist and songwriter Emily Haines has spoken of excavating a deeper honesty for herself on these new songs, including the incendiary "Victim of Luck" with its cussy chorus and backwards glance at the past — and rocky, mascara-smudged present.

In an FUV Live concert recorded at The Bitter End on a cold winter's night ahead of the album's April release, Haines and guitarist James Shaw performed a selection of new and more vintage tracks, including that single, as well as an arresting acoustic version of "Help I'm Alive," originally found on 2009's Fantasies.
