Margaret Glapsy’s 2016 debut album, Emotions and Math, made the world take notice of the impressive songwriter. After nearly three years of touring that record, she returned home to begin the process of making the album’s follow-up, Devotion.

Recording most of the new record in Brooklyn, the album stretches her sound in a number of sonic directions, so I was curious how the new material would translate live. To suggest that Glaspy and her band did not disappoint is an understatement. She was in terrific voice during this show at Rockwood Music Hall, giving space and depth to the new songs and breathing life into older ones like “Emotions and Math.”
