It was a full circle night in New York City. We have been fans of KT Tunstall since she made her very first U.S. radio appearance on WFUV in 2005, shortly after her debut, Eye To The Telescope, was released. Now set to release her fifth album — a stunningly beautiful and personal collection titled Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon — KT came back for another FUV Live set, but this time in the room where she played her first New York City gig: The Living Room on the Lower East Side. She said it was the first time she’d been back there since that first gig — understandable, given how quickly she rose to fame.

It was a gorgeous and intimate performance of songs from the forthcoming album (out on August 6th on Blue Note Records) complete with stories of her journey of the last few years — both figurative and literal — that brought her to the desert of Tucson, Arizona to record with alt-country hero, Howe Gelb (Giant Sand). We were treated to six new tunes, her famous song about a horse in a desert, and an unexpected Don Henley cover thrown in for good measure.

[Recorded: 6/3/13]
