This FUV Live session is also available as a podcast, "FUV Live Sessions." We're elevating WFUV's long history of live sessions and interviews via a podcast that you can find on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Podcasts. New episodes drop every Monday.
New Jersey's own Joe P has been a frequent FUV Live performer, appearing in Studio A and Hill Country in the past to play songs and talk about his EPs, 2021's Emily Can’t Sing and 2022's French Blonde. The musician, real name Joe Parella, released his debut album, Garden State Vampire, earlier this year. To celebrate that album, he headed to Racket for an "FUV Live" set joined by his band: bassist Tony Yebra, guitarist James Waltsak and drummer Santo Rizzolo. Parella also spoke to me about the making of this record.
Before the show, in our backstage interview, Parella discussed how his nocturnal lifestyle informs his music. He also comes clean about using his creative license in interviews. A wildly charming and talented guy, Joe P's audience at Racket included his loyal Jersey crew as he played three tracks: "Color TV," "Don't Wanna Love U," and "All Day I Dream About."
