Like many an artist that came before him and many since, James Maddock is a New York City transplant. But over the past decade, he has become so beloved and deeply ingrained in the Lower East Side singer-songwriter scene, that you might assume that he is a native, until he speaks and his British accent gives his background away.

A long time FUV fave, and one-time member of the band, Wood, James has performed with Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile, and Garland Jeffries. He consistently enlists some of the best studio musicians and producers to work with him too. Case in point, his new album,The Green, includes contributions from former Wings’ drummer Steve Holley and Patti Smith’s bassist Tony Shanahan. And his long time live band, which he brought along to City Winery, has equally accomplished players, including Aaron Comess of The Spin Doctors on drums.
