One of the things that I like about Indigo De Souza’s music is that it is bold and unabashed. She lays out her feelings through her lyrics in a clear and confident way without mincing words. She does that on hew new album, Precipice, and you can hear her emotional intelligence the changes undergone throughout these new songs.

“Crying Over Nothing” is a great example of this. You can hear her working through the pain of missing someone while still wishing them happiness despite her own sadness. On "Heartthrob" she acknowledges the trauma of abuse and channels that pain into power.

Precipice, De Souza’s fourth album, fully realizes her vision — and it's catchy too, with pop and dance vibes throughout. The songs make you want to move in a very joyful, free way and you see De Souza do that very thing in Studio A while she performs these songs with her band: drummer Lila Richardson, bassist Landon George and Mike Johnson on guitars and synths. De Souza said that her band is akin to family.

Speaking of family, her mom, Kimberly Oberhammer, did the cover art for Precipice as she has done for all of Indigo’s records, starting with her 2018 full length debut, I Love My Mom.

In this FUV Live session, De Souza and her band play three songs: "Be Like The Water," "Crying Over Nothing" and  "Not Afraid."
