This  FUV Live session is also available as a podcast, "FUV Live Sessions." We're elevating WFUV's long history of live sessions and interviews via a podcast that you can find on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Podcasts. New episodes drop every Monday.

Gogol Bordello is literally a moveable feast of music, cross cultural influences and infectious fun. The boundless freedom and imagination of frontman Eugene Hütz has driven his patented "gypsy punk" for decades, and a recent Studio A visit to FUV pulled out all the stops.

We Mean It, Man! is the title of the band's ninth and newest album, and with tracks like "Life is Possible Again" and the title track, the vibe is upbeat with a take-no-prisoners bravado.

With a full band of singer and guitarist Hütz, violinist Sergey Ryabtsev, Erica Mancini on synths and accordion, guitarist Leo Mintek bassist Guil Damasceno, Pedro Segovia on tambourine and drummer Oskar Häggadhl — Studio A rocked with the same energy as one of Gogol Bordello's storied New Year's Eve gigs.

Conversation with Hütz is always a heady trip through his broad range. He chatted freely about the unlikely influence of classical music and folk on Gogol's development, and spoke from the heart about support for Ukraine and the long road of it all.
