FUV Summer Music Guide 2022

There’s a ton of live music to enjoy this summer, and WFUV will help you make the most of it. Be sure to check websites for status changes or cancellations, health protocol requirements, and ticket availability. Then get out there and enjoy live music (safely!) with your friends from WFUV. We’re all in this together. Have a great summer!

Stone Pony Summer Stage

Where: Asbury Park, NJ
When: May 7 - September 3
FYI: The legendary Stone Pony’s Summer Stage rocks with outdoor shows all season long in Asbury Park. You can even hear the music from the beach.

The Rooftop at Pier 17

Where: Pier 17, South Street Seaport, NYC
When: May 8 - September 22
FYI: One of NYC’s newer outdoor venues at South St. Seaport, with dazzling downtown and Brooklyn views.

Forest Hills Stadium

Where: Forest Hills, Queens, NYC
When: May 14 - October 21
FYI: Forest Hills Stadium is conveniently located near the LIRR and E, F, M and R subway lines. Look for the WFUV Clubhouse between portals 3 & 4 and listen to 90.7 FM and wfuv.org for live broadcasts of Bon Iver with Bonny Light Horseman, Anaîs Mitchell on June 3.

Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City

Where: Lincoln Center’s buildings and outdoor spaces, NYC
When: May 14 - August 14
FYI: Summer for the City’s theme of “Rejoice, Reclaim, Remember” is represented on the outdoor campus. There are more than 300 artistic and civic events through music, dance, spoken word and more. Most events are free.

  • Shows include: globalFEST; Jazz at Lincoln Center performances including a second line procession; Mostly Mozart Young Artists; and “Songs Of The Living,” with Toshi Reagon leading a gathering inspired by Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower.

SummerStage, Central Park

Where: Rumsey Playfield Central Park, NYC
When: June 4 - September 22
Tickets: Entry on a first-come, first-served basis for free shows. Tickets required for the benefit concerts (*).
FYI: SummerStage’s closest park entrance is 69th Street and 5th Avenue. Street parking is tough on the east side.

The Peach Music Festival

Where: Montage Mountain, Scranton PA
When: June 30 - July 3
Tickets:
FYI: At Montage Mountain in the Poconos, an easy trip. Vendors, camping and RV camping available. Hotels and motels nearby.

  • Artists include: Trey Anastasio Band, G. Love & the Juice, The Black Crowes, Billy Strings, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Robert Randolph, Keller Williams and more plus a special set celebrating the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band.

Caramoor’s American Roots Music Festival and American Roots Evenings

Where: Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Katonah, NY
When: June 25 - August 17
FYI: Festival has day and evening sessions available with performances in various locations around
the gorgeous grounds. Caramoor is family friendly — bring a blanket and chairs for the performances on the field. ARMF Festival is on June 25, day and evening. Roots Evenings, July 16 - August 17
American Roots Music Festival artists include:

  • Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, daytime: Kittel & Co., Kevin Burt, and Black Opry Revue

Battery Park City River & Blues Series

Where: Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park, Battery Park City, NYC
When: July 7- 28
Tickets: Free
FYI: Bring blankets and snacks. Music starts around 7pm Thursday nights in July. Always a great lineup with a breathtaking backdrop.

DJ Susan Z. Anthony to open every show at 6pm.

Great South Bay Music Festival

Where: Patchogue, NY
When: July 7-10
FYI: The four-day festival returns to Shorepoint Park in Patchogue for its 14th year. It’s the longest-running four-day music, food and craft festival on Long Island.
Artists include:

  • Thursday: Grouplove, Manchester Orchestra
  • Friday: Rebulation, Steel Pulse
  • Saturday: Joe Russo's Almost Dead, moe., Galactic, The Weight Band
  • Sunday: Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos

Newport Folk Festival

Where: Fort Adams State Park, Newport, RI
When: July 22-24
Tickets: Tickets are all sold out for all three days.
FYI: If you’re at the festival, stop by the FUV booth, say hi, and pick up some swag!

Beach Road Weekend

Where: Martha’s Vineyard, MA

Sea.Hear.Now Festival

Where: Asbury Park, NJ
When: September 17-18
FYI: Stages on the Beach plus surfing competitions and great photo exhibits by our friend, photographer Danny Clinch. Visit the Transparent Clinch Gallery while you’re there!
Artists include:

Sound on Sound Festival

FYI: A new festival in Bridgeport, where Gathering of the Vibes used to take place. No camping but music goes until 11pm.
