I first became aware of Frankie Sunswept & The Sliver Moons last year with the release of their debut album, Nostalgia. I was immediately drawn to "Atavism," the band's psychedelic Afropop gem and spun it on "NY Slice."
As I spent more time with the record, I discovered even more songs to love, including the kaleidoscopic “Now,” a vibrant track filled with jazzy synths, funky and layered vocals, and unconventional percussion — and one the band played in this "NY Slice" session, along with the irresistible “So Long."
Fittingly, "So Long" has an unforgettable refrain: “I’ll destroy you,” a line that perfectly captures the song’s intoxicating power.
The sextet — Frankie Sunswept, Kimberly Haven, Angela Carlucci, Tom Beuchel, Sam Harmet, and Jordan Auber — makes forward-thinking music that blends futuristic sounds with nods to the past, all while radiating positivity, warmth, and bright vibes.
Frankie and Kim also took the "NY Slice" pop quiz — and talked up Bowiemas and Ridgewood pizza joy.
