Dustin Reid - FUV Live - 2014
Dustin Reid is the producer of a new album called Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell. It’s a tribute album to the late cellist, composer and electronic pioneer, Arthur Russell. The album was released through Yep Roc Records and the Red Hot Organization, which is an international non-profit organization dedicated to fighting AIDS through pop culture.
Since starting out in 1989, the Red Hot Organization has released over 16 compilation albums to raise awareness and contribute to relief efforts for people affected by this life-threatening disease. Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell is a double album that features more than 20 artists, including Sufjan Stevens, Phosphorescent, The Autumn Defense and Hot Chip. The artists all pay homage to Arthur Russell and hope to spread awareness of his music by interpreting his songs in their own way. During this episode of FUV Live, we’ll hear the music of Russell and talk with Dustin Reid about assembling the tribute project.
