Doyle Bramhall II: 2018
It's said that you've got to have the right heroes, and Doyle Bramhall II certainly does. He can count Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Roger Waters, and his own late father, Doyle Bramhall, as influencers and collaborators.
The younger Bramhall has rolled through a life in music. As a teenager, he worked with Jimmie Vaughan's group, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Bramhall has fostered a long and close association with his mentor, Clapton. That friendship has placed Bramhall on concert stages around the world, and he played guitar alongside Clapton and King on that formidable pair's Grammy-winning 2000 album, Riding With The King.
Bramhall has also shared the arena concert experience backing Waters, and in a Tedeschi Trucks Band all-star tribute to Joe Cocker, inspired by Cocker's 1970 "Mad Dogs & Englishmen" tour. Tedeschi Trucks Band also joins Bramhall on his new album, Shades, along with Norah Jones and Clapton.
On this edition of FUV Live, Bramhall performs new songs from the album, minus the superstar guests, but with lots of gusto.
