New York-based Constant Smiles was formed on Martha's Vineyard in 2009 by songwriter, producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Jones, although the project has always functioned as a fluid musical collective.

Centered on Jones’s prolific songwriting, Constant Smiles crafts intimate, pastoral indie folk songs that evolve with each group of collaborators, evident on the band's 2025 album, Moonflowers.

I've been following the band closely since their 2021's Paragons, especially after playing the album's warm and understated single, “The Things I Miss,” on "NY Slice." It's a song that captures Jones’s gift for quiet reflection and emotional clarity.

For their "NY Slice" session, drawing on songs from Moonflowers — "Time Measured in Moonflower" and "Allowed to Be" — guitarist and vocalist Jones was accompanied by drummer Michael Stasiak, bassist Spike Currier, violinist Jen Ho, and FUV Live session alumna Cassandra Jenkins on vocals.

Jones also takes the "NY Slice" pop quiz and muses on ice cream sandwiches and Bushwick pizza joy.
