Claire: FUV Live At CMJ Artist
Making their way from Munich, Germany to the Lower East Side, the members of the synthpop band Claire will mark their U.S. radio debut when they play WFUV and The Alternate Side's CMJ Music Marathon showcase, FUV Live at CMJ, on October 15 at Rockwood Music Hall from 5-9pm. The lineup also includes newcomers Lucius, Saint Rich and James Bay. Every set of the showcase will be broadcast live on 90.7FM WFUV, streaming online too.
Claire is riding high on an effusive wave of critical praise for the band's brand new EP, Broken Promise Land and they've gathered some notable champions too: Passion Pit remixed their new single, "Games," and seminal producer Giorgio Moroder did the same with the EP's title track, which you can listen to here. They were also asked to be a part of the X Games in Munich this past summer.
The quintet excels in slinky electropop, composed by Matthias Hauck (synths), Nepomuk Heller (synths) and Florian Kiermaier (guitar) and guided by the smoky, sultry vocals of Josie Claire Bürkle. Drummer Fridolin Achten joined when the band began doing live gigs. Claire will release its debut album, The Great Escape, in 2014.
Intrigued? We certainly are. Below, watch Claire's video for "Games."
FUV Live at CMJ is free to the public (first come, first served) and doors open at Rockwood Music Hall, 196 Allen Street, at 4:30pm. Set times are subject to change, but the preliminary lineup is listed below.
