Cavalcade for November 24
"Cavalcade" welcomes Warren Haynes at 6 p.m. for live music, conversation, and selections from his new album, Million Voices Whisper. Warren visited Studio A earlier last week, since this evening he's part of "Soulshine: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief and Recovery at Madison Square Garden."
Along with the Dave Matthews Band, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Mavis Staples, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Trey Anastasio, Goose and more, the sold-out show will aid flood-stricken Asheville, North Carolina (Warren's home town) and parts of Florida impacted by the fierce summer storms Helene and Milton.
Haynes, the guitarist, singer, and songwriter with the power resume, talks about his close relationships with Phil Lesh, Dickey Betts, and Gregg Allman, and working with Derek Trucks and Lukas Nelson on his solid new album.
He performs three new songs from it, and we'll also hear about the upcoming 30th anniversary of Gov't Mule at the Beacon Theatre on December 30 and 31.
New music tonight comes from New Jersey songwriter and singer Allie Sandt, a new Al Green take on an old R.E.M. song, the return of The Ting Tings, and more from the Red Hot compilation TRANSA — his time a Prince tune done by Britain's Lauren Auder with Wendy & Lisa.
"Cavalcade," Sundays from 6-9 p.m., streaming online and in the Archives after broadcast.
