"Cavalcade" welcomes Teddy Thompson for music and conversation at 4 p.m. Teddy's new album, Never Be the Same, was just released last week. In this "Cavalcade" session, he performs three of the new tunes, musing in between about relationships, the human disconnect in our tech-fueled world, and being the singer-songwriter son of illustrious singer-songwriter parents, Richard and Linda Thompson.
Teddy's songs are his ambassadors and they speak well to his moment, which overall is well-grounded and pretty much happy. It's always a treat to have him visit Studio A for a quality hang.
New songs showed up at the door this week by Brian Fallon, Chaka Khan, The Strokes, Stephen Sanchez, and The Mountain Goats. Brazilian legend Seu George teams with Beck on a Nick Drake song, and Jon Batiste wrangles Mozart melodies with a twist on his new album.
Also, remembering producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Cheap Trick, Patti Smith, Aerosmith) and New York film and culture critic Rex Reed.
That's "Cavalcade," Sundays from 4-7 p.m. on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
