"Cavalcade" at 4 p.m. ushers in the back-to-school season with welcome new additions to our college of musical knowledge — the '80s return meaningfully with new music by Simple Minds, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the last word from Soft Cell.
Also, new excellence by The Avalanches and The War on Drugs affirms that these are the good old days.
And, that music will always have healing power as New Yorkers have felt in the last few days noting the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I'll do that with albums that were actually (of course unintentionally) released on that day. Finally, the purposeful music of healing performed in the aftermath.
