"Cavalcade" welcomed Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and Hadestown Broadway star Reeve Carney and his co-star Eva Noblezada for conversation and performance in Studio A. Reeve and Eva, who are also engaged, visited in late summer just before heading to London where they now appear in the West End production of the classic Cabaret. Eva appeared with Orville Peck in the New York production of the show earlier this year.
Reeve and Eva met in their long run in the acclaimed Hadestown, announced their engagement the week of their visit to FUV, and were on a cloud, as you would imagine.
But it's rock that Reeve brings to "Cavalcade" this evening, with tales of his Jimmy Iovine-produced band Carney and teaming with Bono and The Edge for his Broadway run as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
Reeve has written and performs an original song called "America," and shows off a very unusual branch of his skill set in recreating two classically complex songs, one by The Beatles and the other one by Queen. Both showcase his powerful vocal range plus guitar and piano chops (he somehow plays both at once).
Reeve performs tribute shows to those groups as well as Led Zeppelin in club dates that rotate regularly at The Green Room 42 in Manhattan. His ease on any stage is in the blood; his great uncle was Art Carney, and he recalls family visits with
"The Honeymooners" star who was quiet and thoughtful behind the scenes.
