"Cavalcade" welcomes Lenny Kaye for performance and conversation in Studio A at 4 p.m.
The Patti Smith Group guitarist just released his first-ever solo album, Goin' Local, at the tender age of 79, it's a toast to late starters everywhere!
Filled with sprawling song stories, Lenny's fine ear for melody and song structure on this album packs his lifetime wisdom into rock and roll fables; Goin' Local automatically takes its place upon the New York-centric shelf.
Kaye performs stripped-down versions of the new songs along with short recitations from his current book Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll.
Speaking of the author Lenny Kaye, his book You Call It Madness, the life story of 1920s crooner Russ Colombo, was inspired by Kaye's devoted Sunday night listening to WFUV's long-ago jazz specialty show "The Big Broadcast," hosted by the late Rich Conaty. To say that Kaye is FUV "family" runs on many levels.
