While nary a groundhog in the northeastern US has a squirrel's chance of digging out and seeing their shadow tomorrow through the permafrost that sits on us all, "Cavalcade" at 6 p.m. melts the freeze with some hot new releases.

Unexpected and welcome covers come from Cat Power (of Prince), Matt Berninger (of New Order), and Billie Joe Armstrong (of Bowie.) Also, tastes of anticipated new albums by Moby, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Joe Jackson, and Silversun Pickups.

At 8 p.m., the "Cavalcade Golden Anniversary LP Crate Dig" gets its hands dusty with just February 1976, when Brit prog-rock by Be Bop Deluxe, Gong and Genesis got cozy in the racks with Diana Ross, Al Green, and Jerry Garcia.

That's "Cavalcade," 6-9 p.m. Sundays, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
