Cavalcade for May 24

"Cavalcade" at 4 p.m. welcomes journalist and musician Brian Cullman for a guest DJ set highlighting tall tales from his new memoir, How to Prepare for the Past.
From a balloon-bursting early encounter with Ed Sullivan (spoiler, Sullivan told a teenage Brian that The Beatles were finished and would be "playing bowling alleys" before long) to a Zelig-like life in rock journalism and the music world, Brian has surely lived the dream.
With song choices by his friends including Nick Drake, Sandy Denny, Big Joe Turner, and Doc Pomus, Brian takes us through his lucky break as a Yank in the London office of trend-setting Crawdaddy magazine, through his friendship with taste-making Creem journalist Lester Bangs.
Brian's affinity for our medum of broadcasting is summed up in his quote, "When people asked me my favorite song, I would say the radio."
That's "Cavalcade," Sundays 4-7 p.m., on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
