Cavalcade for August 16

"John Wesley Harding" evokes an outlaw of The Old West, or a return-to-roots album by Bob Dylan  — or the former moniker of Wesley Stace, the English singer-songwriter, novelist, and educator. Always known as "Wes," be it Harding or Stace persona, he offers the new album One Last Heist under his real name and with a sharp new tune called "A Funny One," to kick off "Cavalcade" this afternoon at 4.

A couple of fine and unexpected new teams include Meshell Ndegeocello and Cat Power turning the beat around on an '80s New Wave classic and Steve Earle and Los Lobos tell a dreamer's tale set along the border. Jazz drummer Cindy Blackman Santana reunites with her husband Carlos and his legendary guitarist counterpart John McLaughlin.

Also, a taste of Neil Young's upcoming album with the Chrome Hearts leans acoustic and mixes new songs of this moment with newly completed reboots of a few previously unrecorded ones from the early days.
