Buzzy Lee is the musical project of Sasha Spielberg, whose intimate songwriting and dreamy indie-pop sound have a devoted following.
I became a fan after hearing the title track off her third album, Shoulder to Shoulder. I was immediately captivated by this hazy, ethereal song. Its quiet, contemplative beauty is akin to a peaceful evening at home with someone you love.
The whole album has a cinematic flair, filled with memorable melodies, and Spielberg's rich, emotionally resonant lyrics. She recorded the record at home, mostly at night, and that cozy lo-fi vibe really shines through.
Spielberg, accompanied by saxophonist Will Epstein, came to Studio A for an "NY Slice Session" and played a pair of stunning, delicate songs: "Shoulder to Shoulder" and "Bad Company."
Watch videos of those performances and Spielberg — whom you might also know as an actress (her dad is director Stephen Spielberg and her mother is actress Kate Capshaw) — also took on the "NY Slice" pop quiz.
