Bonnaroo Blogaroo - day 3 check in
Dusty Greetings from the farm!
I woke up this morning to some band soundchecking from what seemed like right outside of my tent. It's a funny kind of alarm clock - one without a snooze button, but you shouldn't be sleepin' on Bonnaroo anyway;) Sleep when you're dead! ha.
Yesterday was Friday the 13th AND we had a full moon. I didn't realize that until after we'd finished our broadcast. In hindsight, that makes sense though, cause some funky stuff was going on. There was a bit of a dark undertone to the crowd yesterday. I saw several people wearing scary masks and costumes, people covered in fake blood (I hope it was fake), and a guy standing in the shadows with a really creepy doll attached to his backpack. It reminded me of that scene in Trainspotting with the baby crawling on the ceiling. Why were these people trying to freak me out?! Poppin outta nowhere. Jeez!
Anyway, I did see some great music. I ended up at Die Antwoord - which I didn't think I'd like (also - talk about freaky and weird. That's their thing) but I did actually really enjoy their set. Phoenix also put on a great show - as always, though they didn't play their whole set. they ended 15 minutes early, which was a bit dissapointing. But I can't stay mad at those guys! I heart them too much. I also saw a great Latin band called La Santa Cecilia, who are apparently named after the patron saint of music. Another band on the world music stage I enjoyed was Seun Kuti who plays with his late father Fela Kuti's band, Egypt 80.
I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked because I was working, (I hope some of you got to hear our live broadcast) but tonight I plan on going all out. My 1st show will be King Khan and the Shrines, get some Cake & Chromeo, Mr Jack White of course. Flips (Flaming Lips) and Nick Cave and those Bad Seeds of his and we'll see what else happens. I'll be tweeting and socia media yadda yadda too. So follow me if you want. My handle on twitter is @AlisaAliWFUV and if you don't already you should also follow Miss Rita @RitaHoustonWFUV . I've been posting pictures, but please keep in mind that I am taking these with my phone and often deep in the crowd so the pics are not as great as I'd like them to be, but I think they give a good sense of what it's really like here. Laura Fedele from Team FUV is here though with her fancy camera and she's posting her pics too as @WFUV .
Alright well I better get back into center roo. Check in with you guys later.
