Ben Watt - FUV Live - 2014
With a music career spanning over three decades, Ben Watt might be best known as half of the influential folk-turned-electronic duo Everything But The Girl, but he's accomplished far more over the years. After Watt and his longtime partner (later wife) Tracey Thorn decided to move on from Everything But The Girl to focus on family and solo projects, Watt founded the dance and house label Buzzin' Fly and toured the world as a club DJ. Most recently, he published his second memoir, Romany and Tom, a heartbreaking, empathetic but steely-eyed study of his parents, a jazz musician and a journalist. Also, after a gap of over 30 years since his own 1981 debut, North Marine Drive, Watt has released another solo album, Hendra, working with former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and producer Ewan Pearson. Watt and Butler recently stopped by Studio A to perform songs from Hendra and they discussed the album, Ben's memoir and the emotional bridge between the two.
