Amira B is a rising jazz and R&B artist from New York City whose musical journey spans continents and disciplines.
Born in Cairo, Egypt and raised in Russia, she began studying piano at a young age before moving to New York at age seven with her mother. Amira enrolled at the famed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts and honed her skills as a vocalist.
She continued her music education into college and now teaches music lessons to children and adults. A Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal finalist in 2024, Amira B has been a rising artist on the New York City music scene for years, releasing a debut EP, in 2020, called Do You, produced by CARRTOONS.
For "NY Slice," I've played her stunning singles"Tired" and "Do You," but she is back with brand new music. Joined by her bandmates Wayne Tucker (trumpet), Henry Ramon (keys), Derek Rusinek (bass) and Andrew Marsh (drums), Amira B performed two of those songs — "Worth It" and "Have You Ever" — for her "NY Slice" Session. She also talked a bit about herself in the "NY Slice" pop quiz, from her fave Sicilian slice to a packed gig at the now-closed The Porch in Harlem that was an early milestone in her career.
[Recorded: 10/21/25. Engineered by Jim O'Hara with Thomas Lapus and Holden Buckley. Produced by Meghan Suma. Videographers: Gina Slavin, Nikki Phillips, and Bella Lipayon.]
