Kathleen Allard, a Bronx native, joined the FUV team in 2018 as Membership Director. She’s been a listener of the radio station for as long as she can remember, and a sustaining member for almost two decades.
A music lover her whole life, she cites her dad as her first radio spiritual guide. You could say that her career began when she used her communion money to buy a cassette recorder and started taping radio shows and songs to share with friends.
In college, she studied communications while DJing, and worked at a management company that represented the Australian band, the Church, and songwriter Jules Shear (the original host of “MTV Unplugged.”)
Kathleen cites FUV's public service initiative, "Strike a Chord," as one of the many reasons she wanted to work at FUV. "The series brings awareness to so many wonderful organizations, giving them a voice to share their work and explain their mission to people who may never have heard of the organization before," she says. "When the opportunity to join the station in the Membership department arose, I couldn’t pass up the chance to help make the music and good works possible.”
Kathleen has worked in development and membership throughout her career with such organizations as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Aspirica (formerly St. Luke’s LifeWorks), the Wildlife Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo, and WNET/WLIW public television. It’s important for her to be involved with organizations that have a positive impact on the community.
As membership director, Kathleen leads the team in all aspects of fundraising, including on-air drives, direct mail, online support, vehicle donations, and membership programs from sustainer giving to Marquee Membership. She is grateful for the opportunity to talk directly with FUV’s members and share their feedback.
Kathleen and her boyfriend, Tom, live in The Bronx and enjoy exploring the pizzerias of New York in search for the best slice. Kathleen enjoys reading, walking tours, history museums, and cheering on the New York Rangers.
