WFUV's Jay Doherty Interviews Jane Ferguson

WFUV's Jay Doherty spoke with Jane Ferguson, a distinguished international journalist whose career has taken her to some of the most politically complex and dangerous regions in the world. With over a decade of experience, Ms. Ferguson has reported from the frontlines in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Afghanistan, capturing the often-overlooked human toll of conflict. Born and raised in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, and a graduate of the University of York, she has spent a large part of her career covering the Middle East for outlets like CNN, Al Jazeera, and PBS. Her work has also appeared in *The New Yorker* as she brings to life not only the mechanics of conflict but the profound, personal experiences of those caught within it. Her recent memoir, *No Ordinary Assignment*, provides a personal look into the deeply personal experience of frontline journalism. In October 2024, Fordham University honored this memoir with the Sperber Book Prize, an award that was established to promote and encourage outstanding biographies, autobiographies and memoirs related to the field of media and journalism.
