Anticipation for Baseball All-Star Game Builds at the Javits Center

The MLB All Star Fanfest is not just for baseball geeks, it's an enriching experience for the whole family. Opening at the Jacob K. Javits Center today, Fanfest has activities for baseball fans young and old, casual and hardcore.

Older fans are sure to be drawn to memorabilia from the Baseball Hall of Fame, including artifacts from the Negro Leagues. Kids will get the chance to receive autographs from many of their parents favorite players, like Doc Gooden and Mookie Wilson. These legends will also hold clinics where fans of all ages can improve their hardball skills.

In addition to the numerous Mets alumni that will be accessible, FanFest has several Mets themed exhibits. There's even a piece of the Citi Field outfield accompanied by an explanation of the technology which allows the field to dry so fast.

This is the second time in the past five years that the MLB All-Star Game and FanFest have been in New York.  In 2008 the Yankees hosted the All Star Game for the final time at the old Yankee Stadium. This year, the Mets will host the game for the first time since 1964, when Shea Stadium first opened.

FanFest will be at the Javits Center thru Tuesday.  Over 100,000 fans are expected to attend.
