Whitney Tilson is running to become the next Mayor of New York City. He’s a businessman, an investor, and an entrepreneur. While not a career politician, he has been politically involved for decades.
Tilson’s wife and family are Jewish, and so he’s been outspoken about city politics and college protests, especially in the aftermath of the October 7 attack. He’s also criticized president Donald Trump for attacking higher education through the guise of fighting antisemitism.
Tilson has styled himself as the “only change candidate” on the Democratic ticket. He’s not shying away from calling out corruption in city hall. He even told me he’d like to establish a prize for investigative journalism that uncovers ways city leadership is falling short.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with Whitney Tilson.
This is the second installment of WFUV’s 2025 Mayoral Election interview series. The Democratic NYC Mayoral Primary is Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
