Violent Femmes were at the forefront of alternate rock radio’s beginnings in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. A slew of hits and a cult following garnered them a good deal of success.  Like many bands, they’ve gone through some ups and downs and have largely been absent from the new music scene for awhile, but they are recording once again. With the release of the new Happy New Year EP, the band is in fine, classic form.

I was really excited to talk to them about the new stuff and hear some fun stories from the past. Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie and Brian Viglione clearly enjoy themselves when they play live and that comes across in spades in their live session from Studio A. It’s a fun conversation, too, as we learn about where they‘ve been and where they’re going. After all these years, will you finally learn what eight was for? Listen in!
