Vampire Weekend: 2019
On Sunday, May 5, Vampire Weekend celebrated the release of the group's new album, Father of the Bride, by playing a three-set, seven-hour show at New York's Webster Hall. The day after that marathon set, I met with singer, guitarist, and songwriter Ezra Koenig at SIR Studios in Chelsea.
Appearing none the worse for wear when we sat down to chat, Koenig did confess to being somewhat exhausted. But he had to have been coasting on the adrenaline of the show — it was truly a love fest between the New York band and their fans after a six-year gap between albums.
I spoke to Koenig about Father of the Bride, and we touched on individual tracks, the title, the artwork, and the significance of the album as a creative form. (Father of the Bride is also FUV's New Dig this week.)
Listen any time on demand.
