Torres: 2015

Mackenzie Scott took the name Torres from her grandfather and has been recording under that moniker for the last several years. Her latest album Sprinter is an intensely personal piece of work that represents some of the finest songwriting I've heard so far this year.  

Much of the album centers around Scott's religious upbringing and her solo performance at the Central Presbyterian church in Austin during 2015's SXSW was truly unique and beautiful.

Mackenzie brought her band into Studio A for a couple of incredible live songs and some very honest conversation about the making of the album, her concerns about her family's reception to some of the songs and lots more. All in all, it's a very special session from an artist you absolutely must keep an eye on.
