Tom Jones: 2015

Sir Tom Jones returned to WFUV with a full band in tow to perform tunes from his new album, Long Lost Suitcase — the latest in a trilogy of releases showcasing his love of American roots music. In our conversation, Tom spoke about first discovering blues and gospel on the radio as a young man in South Wales, and how that music continues to inspire him today, We also talked about Sinatra, Dylan, and Tom's first ever autobiography, Over the Top and Back.

The centerpiece of his performance is a reinvented take on the masterful Gillian Welch song, "Elvis Presley Blues," sung by a man who actually knew Elvis for years.
