Q&A at SXSW: J. Mascis

by Russ Borris | 03/18/2011 | 8:21pm

J. Mascis

Dinosaur Jr.'s rapscallion frontman J. Mascis, a longtime SXSW veteran, has had a freakishly busy Friday in Austin. He's already played two late afternoon gigs, including one for Brooklyn Vegan, and later, at midnight, he'll rock Sub Pop's showcase at Red 7. Two more SXSW shows are on deck for tomorrow.

The Alternate Side's Russ Borris caught up with a weary J and chatted with him a bit about his decidedly more mellow and acoustic new solo album, Several Shades of Why, which includes collaborations with an array of notable folks, including Kurt Vile, Band of Horses' Ben Bridwell and A Silver Mt. Zion's Sophie Trudeau.
