Jersey girl Susan Cattaneo is now based in Boston, via Nashville. For her ambitious new double album, The Hammer & the Heart, she called on her friends in the Boston music community, such as Mark Erelli and Jennifer Kimball, to co-write and record songs together.

In her visit to WFUV, in advance of performing at On Your Radar on Tuesday, September 12 at Rockwood Music Hall (with Riley Etheridge, Jr. and Annalyse & Ryan), she played a couple of songs from the album and talked about the satisfaction a "song nerd" gets from teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She sums up her credo in her song, "Work Hard, Play Harder."
