Son Volt: 2019

Son Volt is back with his ninth album, Union. Topical songs dominate the album's subject matter: frontman Jay Farrar told me that putting pen to paper and writing about the headlines feels like "part of the job of being a songwriter."

So these new songs are direct as ever, but far from heavy-handed, delivered with those classic Son Volt melodies. While the album is a full band effort, for our live session, Farrar brought his guitar and his harmonica along to get to the acoustic core of a few songs in Studio A.
