Sir George Martin

Today we're waking up to the news that the "fifth Beatle," Sir George Martin, passed away yesterday at home at the age of 90. Martin signed The Beatles to the Parlophone label and produced almost all of their recordings. His background as a classically trained musician fed into the arrangements he made for The Beatles, and his expertise in the studio allowed them to experiment and reinvent pop music. In lieu of requests, we will play side 2 of Abbey Road after 9am today.
