Sam Outlaw: 2015

Sam Outlaw's debut album Angeleno is one of my favorite records of the year. Produced by Ry Cooder, Outlaw has crafted a classic country album with a nod to its history in southern California. Being a country guy from L.A. is not the only thing that sets Outlaw aside from the pack. It's his respect and understanding of tradition coupled with a tremendous live band that makes him a guy to watch. After playing a gig in Vermont, the band drove all night to tape a morning session at FUV. Not surprisingly, the results are tremendous. Sam is also a really great interview, as we talked about working with Ry Cooder, his former career in advertising and why he's not in Nashville.
