Robert Gordon passed away yesterday at the age of 75. He had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Gordon pioneered the rockabilly revival of the late 1970s in downtown New York clubs before other acts like The Stray Cats followed suit. To mark his passing share a favorite rockabilly track from its earliest days in the 1950s or anything since.

Here's what we played:

  • Robert Gordon with Link Wray "Red Hot"
  • The Johnny Burnette Trio "Honey Hush"
  • Elvis Presley "Good Rockin' Tonight"
  • Imelda May "Tainted Love"
  • Vince Taylor & His Playboys "Brand New Cadillac"
  • Wanda Jackson "Fujiyama Mama"
  • The Stray Cats "Rock This Town"
