Ringo Starr has just released his brand new five-track EP, Zoom In, taking full advantage of his home studio and working with a wide assortment of musicians including Dave Grohl, Ben Harper, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jenny Lewis, Yola, the Black Pumas' Eric Burton, Joe Walsh, and his old friend, Paul McCartney.

Recorded from April to October of last year, Ringo was attentive to Covid restrictions and invited just a few musicians at a time to play with him, like bassist Nathan East, guitarist Steve Lukather, and Benmont Tench on piano.

Above, listen to an archive of my chat with Ringo.

It was great to talk with him again and get the details of how he put this EP all together despite the challenges of the past year. He was also very enthusiastic to discuss his new book, Ringo Rocks: 30 years of the All Starrs 1989-2019, which features never-before-seen photos and behind the scenes stories of life on the road with an amazing group of artists.
